Google Pixel 8 series will reportedly record 8K/30fps video

Google is looking to improve the camera capabilities of its Pixel 8 lineup. During the previous I/O 2023 event, the company sparked curiosity by not showcasing the Pixel 8 but indicated that it will continue using Samsung ISOCELL sensors. However, the new models are expected to feature the same ISOCELL GN2 sensor found in the Galaxy S23.

One of the biggest upgrades in the Pixel 8 series will be the use of the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor. This sensor is 35% more effective in capturing light compared to the GN2, which means it will be capable of capturing more vibrant photos in low light. Additionally, the GN2 sensor offers reduced blur and faster shutter speed.

The camera features of the Pixel 8 will leverage some advantages of the Tensor G3 chipset. Google aims to support 8K/30 fps video recording with this setup. However, concerns about overheating raise uncertainty about whether this feature will be available to users.

The technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 have been leaked, revealing some key details.

Google surprised with the durability of the Pixel 7a! Another notable development is the introduction of gradual HDR support. This could enhance both Google’s HDR+ capabilities and the vibrancy of images. The front cameras of the Pixel 8 series will continue to use the 11-megapixel sensors found in the Pixel 7.

The Pixel 8 Pro will receive a significant update to its ultra-wide camera. Instead of the 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor used in the Pixel 7 Pro, it will feature a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 sensor. The availability of the macro mode introduced in the Pixel 7 series for the Pixel 8 Pro is currently uncertain.

In addition to physical improvements, there will be some changes in the Google Camera app. The “Adaptive Lighting” feature will adjust flash intensity based on the scene and shooting mode. Another addition is “Segmentation AWB,” which uses artificial intelligence to distinguish colors in different parts of a scene.
